Finding Wonderlust...

We all have ideas.  We all have dreams. Rarely do we have people that actually listen and support our ideas.  I have been blessed to have the best of both worlds.  Friends are friends, but when you find someone that is a friend that also will listen and help you achieve your ideas and goals, they should be treated more like family.

Meet my brother from another Brandon Herbel, also known as AllWorkNoSleep and his Wonderlust Design Studio.  Brandon is hands down one of the top designers in the country and lives right here in Omaha.  I had the opportunity to visit his home base as he reached a huge milestone.  It has been 10 years since he decided to follow his heart and pursue his passions as a full-time designer.  Brandon told me the story about a former boss of his that told him if he were to leave his current role that he would never make it in the industry.  It was a turning point for Brandon as he bet on himself, taking a leap of faith venturing out on his own.  Since then this self-taught creative pioneer has worked with some of the biggest artists and companies in the world.  From the likes of Nike, Lady Gaga, John Mayer, Fortune 500s and numerous local businesses. Some of his work has also graced Hollywood’s elite, Justin Bieber and Kristen Stewart.  Needless to say, his believe in himself paid off!

I love to highlight people that have supported me and my ideas . Brandon is the epitome of what WKND LDRS stands for.  Finding what it is that you are passionate about and doing more of it.  Resisting all barriers they may prevent you from reaching those dreams along the way.

There are usually 3 main steps when you look at thinking more entrepreneurially:

  • The Mindset: Saying I want or need a change

  • The Why: Finding what it is that truly motivates us

  • The Roadmap: Curating a game plan and then executing.

WKND LDRS is about helping motivated individuals do more of what they want.  Helping them to think deeper so they get more out of life. Take the road less traveled.  Find what matters and do more of it.

Todd Zack Jr. Back Story....

“At first I thought he was a rapper, but then we heard his voice!”

We all have talented friends doing cool things.  From traveling, music, artists, etc.  I see them shared all the time.  What I think is missing is the backstory.  Why this friend?  Why should I listen to this particular friend? Those are my questions I ask myself before checking out something new from my timeline.

Well I am glad you asked.  Totally random meeting my guy, Todd Zack Jr.

While hanging out in the Startup Mansion in Omaha.  We had a mutual friend Gilly (@gillythecreative), and I was there helping plan our local sneaker event that year.  I will admit I was hesitant to listen upon learning Todd did music, while also active duty in the Air Force.  I assumed he was a rapper and kind of brushed it off.

Long story short, as I got to know him a little bit, we instantly connected.  I felt like I had known this dude for more than a couple of weeks at that time.  So I finally dove into his music, my mouth dropped to the floor.  Really didn't believe it was him but sure enough, the homie was super talented.  I was a fan.  Not only because I knew him, but the fact I really feel his sound was different and it reflected in his music.  Plus he had a genuine passion for Neo-Soul/R&B music which is where my first introduction to music came from.

From there we started building.  From a crazy house party in the hills (OMA), to curating an artist showcase at THE BAY featuring top local musicians we were fans of, to the journey with him performing his first SXSW showcase, sleepless nights in Vegas (well I fell asleep in the club and they kicked us out LOL).  Even got to be his DJ for a performance.  But needless to say that this is the homie.  He is uber-talented.  His sound is infectious.  The vibe is crazy. And he just released his new project called “Evoking Emotions”.

Would love for you all to take a listen and I am sure you will too become a fan of Todd Zack Jr.

"EVOKING EMOTIONS EP" Available on Streaming Platforms. Spotify, Apple Music and Soundcloud.

“Todd Zack Jr. introduces himself as a true crooner in a time where vulnerability often tends to be frowned upon. Evoking Emotions is his raw offering to the world, taking you on a sonic trip while incorporating innovative elements within the R&B/Neo-soul genres.”

Studio LNK

Hooked up with the homie Michael to check out Wyn Wileys new studio, Studio LNK.  This place is a hidden gem in Lincoln, NE.  From the first time I had a gander at their feed I knew we had to create some magic in there.  Pretty cool the spot is fully furnished with the helps of Hutch Modern in Omaha, NE.  I love seeing creative teams from both cities making an impact together in Prairie.

Check out Mike's work here: http://www.mgphotog.com/

Road To Crossfit Regionals

Travis Stoetzel and TEAM CROSSFIT OMAHA

Had the opportunity to document a couple of training sessions  of my buddy and coach Travis Stoetzel, as he was apart of Crossfit Omaha as they prepared for the 2017 Crossfit Central Regionals in the team division held in Nashville, TN.

The sport of Crossfit continues to grow in popularity across the world, with now multiple teen and Masters divisions.  More and more I hear the question, “You do Crossfit!?”  LOL well sort of….

It was cool to get a glimpse into some of the top athletes in the region.  Not to mention one of those top athletes is 8x Crossfit Games Competitor  and 2015 Top Ten Finisher, Stacie Tovar.

She was preparing for her last Crossfit podium run for the crown of “World’s Fittest Woman”.  Pretty cool and I was kind of in awe the whole time. She was super nice and even more focused during her training sessions.

Benson First Friday: October Edition

Benson, NE

October 1st, 2017

My buddy Brandon Herbel (@allworknosleep) usually hosts First Friday at Sailors Grave.  He was going to be out of town and asked if I wanted to come hangout and help in his absence.  So of course I jumped on it.

This session headlined with art from Devin Omaha (owner/tattoo artist @Sailors Grave and Warlock Gallery). Also art from Jessica Lee, or her alias Tiger Loves Bandit…..

Great turn out and I was super stoked to try out my new scents from local artisan Wick & Oil, that was selling handmade wax candles and wax melts for a warmer.  Always getting out and exploring the Creative Class.

A Bloke From London England...

Back to a time when I spent a summer in the UK for work.  It was a bit of an immersive experience as I was working and living in a new country with people I had never met until the day I moved in....My version of MTV's Real World.
